  • After-School Sailing, Grades 3-8

    Price: $100

    Sept 12 - Oct 14: Students with all levels of sailing experience are welcome to join after-school sailing at Fort Getty. After-school sailing will be offered to children in grades 3-8 one day a week. *Participation priority will be given to those who have never sailed or been a part of after-school sailing before.* Cost: $100; Where: Fort Getty, CISF tent; When: 3:30-5pm; Grades 3 & 4 will meet Tuesdays; Grades 5 & 6 will meet Mondays; Grades 7 & 8 will meet Wednesdays. No programs held Monday, Oct 10.

  • Backyard Explorers, Grade 1, Monday's 2:40-4pm

    Price: $50

    Sept 12 - Oct 14: This popular after-school program will again be offered during the fall. Students will explore, adventure, and learn about the natural world. Children will explore the outdoor environment at school once a week for five weeks with Ms. Haley Barber. The students will be picked up from their classes after school. Program will not be held Monday, Oct 10 (Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day)

  • K-2 Nature Exploration, Fridays, 3:30 - 5 pm

    Price: $90

    Sept 12 - Oct 14: Children in grades K - 2 are invited to explore the natural world at Fort Getty every Friday. They will spend time exploring and learning about the diverse ecosystems at Fort Getty. Fall is a great season to spend time outside and watch the natural world!   • Homeschool, Junior Nature Explorers, ages 5-7

    Price: $220

    Junior Nature Explorers, Tuesdays + Thursdays, 9:30 - 11:30 Every Tuesday and Thursday children between the ages of 5 and 7 will explore the natural world together at Fort Getty. They will visit the Fox Hill Salt Marsh, rocky shores, and nature trails, learn about the species that live in the water and land, and observe the changes that happen in nature as summer turns to fall. Every week will include exploration, play, nature art, craft projects, and games. This is a 5-week program that will be followed by a second 5-week session before Thanksgiving. $220/child (Contact Fiona if you are interested but cannot make both days each week.)   • Homeschool, grades 3-8, Sailing & Marine Education

    Price: $300

    This program is for homeschool students in grades 3-8 and will be focused on both learning to sail, and learning marine biology at the Fox Hill Salt Marsh at Fort Getty. One day each week students will work on building their sailing skills using both Hobie Waves and O'pen Skiffs, and working on parts of the boat, tacking and jibing, points of sail, and understanding the wind and current. The other day, students will learn marine biology through studying the salt marsh ecosystem, working on identifying and categorizing species, learning the difference between native and invasive species, and their effect on this delicate ecosystem. This is a 5-week program. Where: CISF's Fort Getty tent; Grades: 3-8; When: 12:30-3 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays; Cost: $300/person. Sept 13 - Oct 13

  • Home-School Explorations, Friday sessions

    Price: $25

    Come and spend a few hours on Friday's learning and exploring hands on outside at Fort Getty! Climb rocks, learn about birds, go on a hike and more! Three-hour sessions are held from 9 am - 12 pm or 12-3 pm on Fridays. $25/person. Ages 7 - 15. Upcoming Explorations: STEM Field Trip to the boat Maiden; Intro to Sailing; Salt Marsh Species Count; Fall Gardening; Invasive Species; Weather and Water; Navigation and Sailing; All About Trees.
