Yes. Although, children are only eligible to register for 2 weeks initially to accommodate more campers. When registering, you are able to select spots for multiple weeks and for multiple campers.
Location
Camp takes place at the CISF tent at Ft. Getty (1050 Ft. Getty Road, Jamestown, RI. Our site is located past the pavilion, closer to the Ft. Getty pier).
Drop Off & Pick Up
Parking: If you’d like to park, you can do so in the grass where our staff parks, or in the parking spaces closer to the boat ramp. Do NOT park on the road!
If you are not parking, you can pull to the right of the road—either across from our tent entrance (where there is a cross-walk) or at the side of our tent—and drop your child off. (Please see the attached map for greater clarity).
Check-In/Check-Out: There will always be an instructor sitting at the entrance of our tent to check campers in and out. While campers do not need to enter here, we ask that they tell an instructor that they have arrived/are leaving. Instructors can then check them in/out via their phones.
When Leaving: We ask that you drive one-way when leaving camp, turning left after the parking areas.
Nope! While every week may have the same basic organization, no two weeks are the same. Coming multiple weeks allows kids to strengthen their knowledge and skills and really build relationships with other campers and staff.
No, you cannot mix and match to only sail or only be in the marsh. Sea Adventure Camp is a blended mix of both activities. We encourage campers to explore their interests both on the water and at the marsh/other marine education activities. Nevertheless, we give kids options daily to do what interests them, so that some campers in a group may be sailing while others are exploring the marsh.
If your child is particularly interested in sailing, and sailing more independently, we offer the O’Pen Skiff Adventurers program for children ages 11 + (learn more about particular programs here).
No. We require that all children who participate in Marine Adventurers who are 5 years old must have completed Kindergarten.
It is not necessary for campers to be skilled swimmers to attend camp, but comfort around the water is a must!
For all age groups, children will have a life jacket on when on, in, or near the water.
With the exception of the Explorers group (ages 4-6, who are land-based) we do a “swim check” at the beginning of the week. Here, campers may take their life-jackets off (optional), swim to an instructor 10yds away, and swim back. This helps us assess how comfortable a child is in the water, as well as their swimming ability.
Yes. You will have the opportunity to make that request during the registration process. If you miss this opportunity, please contact Theo@JamestownSailing.Org for group requests.
Yes, we can usually accommodate late arrivals or early pick-ups. We ask that parents communicate to their camper’s instructor about their scheduling needs.
If your child is sick, we ask that they NOT attend camp until they are feeling better.
If your child misses a significant portion of their camp week, please contact Theo@JamestownSailing.Org to see if we can reschedule or refund their registration.
Before June 1st: You will receive a full refund to your cancelled registration, minus $40/child fee.
(All changes and cancellations of a registration must be communicated to the email address: Contact@JamestownSailing.org. No refund will be made unless an email is sent to this email address. You can cc Theo and/or Meg, but all changes MUST be communicated to the contact email address)
After June 1st: Funds (minus the cancellation fee) will be refunded ONLY if a camp spot is filled.
After receiving an initial confirmation of your waitlist status, CISF will only contact you in the event that a spot opens for your child. We apologize for this inconvenience as we are not able to send regular updates on waitlists, but we encourage parents to reach out ( to Theo@JamestownSailing.Org) if they are curious about their child’s position on a waitlist.
During registration, you will be asked to fill out a series of forms, including:
Household Form: basic information about your household/family
Medical Form: A more detailed form about each child’s basic medical history, allergies, special considerations, etc. You will provide your insurance information here too.
Medical Release & Liability Waiver: Authorizes emergency medical treatment for your child and releases CISF from liability for injuries
Photography Waiver: Asks consent to photograph your child for promotional purposes (*optional*).
Yes!
CISF offers financial aid/scholarship to attend any of our programs. We do not require submission of financials, but aid is given out based on the need of the individual (and/or family).

While we will contact parents/guardians directly in cases of emergency, we communicate to parents throughout the camp week using email and a Remind text chain. you can use Remind to communicate with instructors directly as well.
