2019 CISF High-Performance Sailing, Nacra 15 Sessions

Program Summary:

Our mission is to introduce youth sailors to fun, exciting, & challenging higher performance sailboats with high-quality coaching; and to help youth excel in the sport of sailing in these boats.

Nacra 15 sailing skills include trapezing, spinnakers, and apparent wind sailing with more complex rigging and tuning systems. Our Nacra 15 sessions offer:

  • High-quality coaching on high-performance boats
  • Intro to Nacra 15/catamarans/apparent wind sailing
  • A variety of opportunities to experience high-performance sailing from introductory sessions to more advanced tactical, tuning, and boat handling sessions

Information:
CISF owns 3 Nacra’s. 6-12 sailors/clinic
Clinics and Practices are generally from 10 am – 4 pm from Fort Getty, Jamestown, RI
Helmets are required and supplied if needed, as are harnesses.
Life jackets are required. Pinnies are recommended, but not supplied.
Payment is expected at registration or before a clinic begins. Cancellations: Cancellations within 24 hours are required to pay in full.

• Try Nacra 15 Sailing: $75/person/day
• Skill Builder Advanced Clinic, Catamaran Racing Level 1: $100/person/day
• July Junior Sailing Program Use – contact Meg Myles for pricing
• End of Season Training Camp – $750/person (8-10 sailors max)
• $100/hour Private lesson, 1 person

Clinic & Practice Schedule:

July Nacra Sailing, 2019

CISF’s is making their three Nacra 15s available to junior sailing programs for the month of July with advanced scheduling. Available times are Monday through Friday 9 am – 12 pm or 12:30 – 3:30 pm. Sailors will experience the excitement of sailing a catamaran, trapezing, and going super fast! CISF will provide an instructor for each Nacra. Programs are expected to bring a coach and coach boat. August Nacra Clinic Schedule, 2019

August 5 – 6: Try Nacra Sailing
Capacity: 8-12 sailors. Pre-requisites are intermediate sailing skills and athleticism, age minimum – 12. BYO gloves and trapeze harness if you have one. Pairings will be made on site. Depending on the number of interested participants, sailors will switch in and out, and may sail with a variety of partners. Minimum weight = 90 lbs. $75/person/day (Hours: 10 am – 4 pm)

August 8-10: Skill Builder Advanced Clinic, Catamaran Racing Level 1
Capacity: 8-10 sailors. Sailors must have some Nacra 15 or other catamaran experience. Over the three days, catamaran sailing skills will be the focus – trim, fine tuning, on the water adjustments, differences between sailing mono vs multi-hulls. Individuals and teams can apply. $100/person/day

August 13Junior Race Week, Compass Rose Beach (2-3 boats). ‘Try It Out’ for junior race week sailors. No cost. (Sail boats from Getty to Compass Rose Beach.)

August 17-18Try Nacra Sailing

August 26-29End of Summer Season Nacra Training Camp
Capacity: 8-10 sailors. 4 days of intensive sailing and training, including a fitness component – best practices, how to maximize your work outs, how to keep yourself physically healthy. Sessions with a local physical trainer and physical therapist will be included in the week. Sailors should have Nacra 15 experience, or some catamaran experience. Attend as a team or individual.
Minimum age requirement – 14.
If housing is needed, please let Meg Myles know and she will do her best to find accommodation. $750/person for the training camp.
